Description
Cough-Off Herb Tea (Caffeine-Free), is made of wild platycodon root and loquat leaf (eriobotryae folium). They provide saponin, sitosterol, platycodigenin, eriocitrin, polygalacic acid, oleanolic acid, ursolic acid, amygadalin, vitamin B, etc.
Traditional Chinese medicine uses them as expectorant to moisten and clear the lung and upper respiratory ducts and maintain healthy lung and bronchial functions.
Ingredients
Platycodon root, Loquat leaf and Jasmine flower.
Suggested Usage
Pour one cup of boiling water over tea bag, steep 4-6 minutes. For stronger flavor, steep longer.

Platycodon acts on the lung channel. Its acridness can disperse and the bitterness can purge. Its lightness in nature enables it to enter the lung to promote the dispersing function of the lung, to clear phlegm and relieve cough, to induce diaphoresis and relieve sore throat. Its neutrality does not incline to cold or warm. For treatment of cough with abundant expectoration, no matter the diseases are caused by external or internal pathogens, cold or heat, it can be used in prescriptions in all case. It is also good at promoting the dispersing function of the lung to expel pus, so it is indicated in pulmonary abscess with purulent sputum. Its lightness and floating up characters enable it to introduce drugs into lungs. It is often used as a channel-guiding drug.
Loquat leaf has antitussive, expectorant, and antiemetic properties. It is beneficial to the vital energy of the lungs. It dissolves and expectorates phlegm and alleviates cough. It relieves coughing and vomiting. The flesh promotes the secretion of body fluids and eliminates thirst. The tender leaves are used for various types of coughs but the under side is usually prepared by rubbing the hairs off so they do not irritate the throat.
