Colostrum contains powerful immune factors called immunoglobulins that have been proven to support immune function. FarmFresh Colostrum contains all five of the immunoglobulins found in humans, and especially large amounts of the four important antibodies - IgG, IgM, IgA, and Secretory IgA. These powerful immune system supporters are made even more powerful by the presence of lactoferrin, which binds iron in the stomach. This is important because iron deficiency is a major cause of a depressed immune system. Colostrum also contains cytokines which have been found to be extremely helpful for maintaining proper cellular function.
Colostrum is the pre-breast milk found in all female mammals near the end of pregnancy. Colostrum production increases significantly just before a mother gives birth, and then stops altogether 2-3 days after birth, when regular breast milk finally begins secreting from the mammary glands. During those first days of life, colostrum plays a vital role in the survival of the new born. Through the years it was discovered that bovine (cow) colostrum is very similar to human colostrum and could be used by humans as an immune system booster.
