A probiotic is defined as a live microbial product, which is beneficial to the host, by contributing positive bacteria to the micro-flora of the gastrointestinal tract. Probiotic contain naturally occurring, beneficial lactic acid bacteria that are present in the gastrointestinal tract of healthy human beings and animals. These bacteria participate in a variety of positive, health promoting activities in human physiology. Probiotics are regarded as "friendly Bacteria" that inhabit the intestinal tract and contribute to good health by improving nutrition and protecting against disease. Some of the positive attributes are:
Enhanced digestive function.
Maintenance of microbial balance.
Protection against pathogenic bacteria.
Production of necessary vitamins and growth factors.
Enhanced immune response.
Olympian Labs L. Acidophilus is formulated in a proprietary LiveBac technology. Each tablet contains 1 billion viable colony-forming organisms. This formulation is stable at room temperature and does not need refrigeration. Formulation also includes other healthy organisms such as L. Bulgaricus, B. Bifidum, and S. Thermophilus.
LiveBac tablets are still stable after 260 days while standard Acidophilus capsules show no viable colonies. The result is 1 Billion of Livebac is equivalent to 5 to 10 Billion colonies of standard Acidophilus over time. The amount of the active colonies at the time of manufacturing is not as important as is the stability of organisms over time.

Lactobacillus acidophilus 80% †
Lactobacillus bulgaricus 10% †
Bifidobacterium bifidum 5% †
Streptococcus thermophilus 5% †

Other Ingredients: Microcrystalline Cellulose (Plant Fiber), Maltodextrin (Complex Carbohydrate), Modified Cellulose (Plant Source), Stearic Acid (Vegetable Source), Turmeric Root (Herb), Magnesium Stearate, and Silica.
