Description
Artichoke has been used traditionally as food and medicinal herb for diuretic and digestive properties. The German Pharmacopoeia lists artichoke leaf for treating gastrointestinal complaints stemming from bile deficiency, as well as to stimulate appetite and diuresis. German authorities recognize that 'bitters' stimulate bile flow, increase bile solubility and cleanse the liver of fatty deposits. The results of several clinical investigations also showed the efficacy and safety of artichoke extracts in the treatment of hepato-biliary dysfunction and digestive complaints, such as sensation of fullness, loss of appetite, nausea and abdominal pain. Researchers have concluded that artichoke dry extract could be safely recommended to patients for treating hyperlipoproteinemia and, thus, prevention of vascular disease. Artichoke also has powerful antioxidant activity.
We prepare our Artichoke Extract from the leaf & flower bud of Cynara scolymus plants which are Certified Organically Cultivated on our own farm without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides.
To assure optimal extraction of Artichoke's bioactive compounds, the plants are hand-harvested at their optimal potency, are carefully shade-dried, and are then thoroughly extracted.
Our Artichoke is never fumigated or irradiated.
